#HeartCheck

"As water reflects the face, so one's life reflects the heart." Proverbs 27:19

Many profess Christianity and that they know God for themselves, but what does their life show? When the Holy Spirit dwells within you, things that break Jesus' heart, break yours. You're convicted of things that you once loved or tolerated. Your discernment won't allow you to hang out with certain people. Does your lifestyle match what you say is in your heart?

"A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." Luke 6:45

Happy Wednesday! :)

How To: Pray

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." 1 John 5:14-15

Prayer is a powerful tool that is easy to take for granted. Prayer is more than running down a list of things that we want from God. It's a time where we can go humbly to God and reveal that we don't have all the answers and we need him on a daily basis. When we pray continuously (1 Thessalonians 5:17) The Lord works in us and molds us into the people that we were called to be. This weekend, I challenge you to speak with God more. Prayer doesn't have to be super formal all the time. Ask for his guidance in your daily activities. Pray for people you encounter throughout the day. You can even pray about what to eat for dinner tonight. It may sound far-fetched but you'll definitely become more sensitive to Holy Spirit. Happy praying! :)

Full of Joy

"Until now you have asked for nothing in my name [Jesus]. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full." John 16:24

There is power in speaking the name of Jesus. We can speak over situations and overcome because He is in us. It seems that the world puts a lot of focus on happiness. But as believers, we know that happiness is temporary and joy comes from within.

"For you are our glory and joy" 1 Thessalonians 2:20

"A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries of the bones" Proverbs 17:22

Seeking Purpose

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

How awesome is it that we were specifically designed by God to walk in the purpose that He has for us? That statement alone can remove all worry from our life, if we have faith in Him. Our life is already planned out. Don't stress! Instead, pray and ask God to lead you and constantly strive for a heart like Jesus. Rest, God's got this under control!

Deceitful Hearts and Honest Motives

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? 'I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.'" Jeremiah 17:9-10

We're not perfect, in fact, we are born sinners (Romans 5:12), but once we are saved (Romans 10:9-10) we have a relationship with Christ. Even if we aren't able to quote every verse in the Bible or pray long, elaborate prayers, none of that matters. The Lord looks into our hearts and sees our honest desires and motives.

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" Proverbs 4:23

We must constantly ask ourselves, "What am I feeding my spirit," to assess if our motives are pure, holy, and Christlike; if they are, the Lord will be bless them.
