Prosperity

"[blessed is the one] who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season & whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers." Psalm 1:2-3

As believers, we know that God keeps his promises. Here, we have a guarantee that we will be prosperous as we are in tune with the word of God. Prosperity may not be money, but it could be quality relationships (or something else that brings glory to Him). All in all, it's never a waste to spend time in the presence of God. He is faithful. Let's gain our energy, nourishment, and strength from God's word, not the world. Happy Monday! :)

Quick Tip for Success: Patience

"Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes." Psalm 37:7

Wait on the Lord. Isn't that the most common phrase tossed around in the church and among believers? Such a simple phrase, but it's not so simple to live out. Sometimes it can feel as if everyone around you is getting a revelation from God. Everyone around you is moving forward, acing classes, getting their dream job, going on exotic vacations... but you feel stuck. But it's in these times that you should seek his face all the more. This season is preparing you for your next step. Take advantage of this time of preparation and enjoy the season that you are in. Don't focus on other people's timeline to "success." Your journey is specific to you because you were uniquely designed.

"Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." Joshua 1:8

New Year Resolutions

"May He grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your plans!" Psalm 20:4

God has made so many promises of prosperity, joy, success, and love to those who love Him. He cares for YOU! Take time to tell God your plans, declare His promises for your life, and be open to His will. Honestly, His plans are so grand that we can't fathom them! Spend time sharing with God just as you do with your friends and family. He wants to hear from you. If you want this year to be amazing, put God first in everything. Happy Friday! :)

"For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." Romans 8:5

Proverbs 13- Vanity & Discontentment

"A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is full of life" Proverbs 13:7

Media surrounds us with images of new, shiny, expensive things. They market the myth that we can't be happy without a particular item. They market the myth that this new and improved thing will change people's perceptions of us. In reality, they are fueling the discontentment that we feel when we compare ourselves to others. No, there's nothing wrong with buying new things but there should always be a balance and a heart check.  We don't need everything that we can afford. Let's make sure that our heart and motives are pure this holiday season and we're not buying things to avoid/ cover up the root issue. Let's be content with our portion that God has blessed us with. (Psalm 73:26; Psalm 16:5, Lamentations 3:24)

"Easy come, easy go, but steady diligence pays off" Proverbs 13:11

Proverbs 6- Lazy Christians

"A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man." Proverbs 6:10-11

Proverbs 6 warns us about what can happen when we become complacent and lazy. No, we should not obsess about earthly treasures (Matthew 6:19-21), but we should prepare to the best of our abilities. Faith without works is dead (James 2:14-26), so if we need a job, yes, prayer works, but so does updating a resume. No matter what season we find ourselves in, we cannot become so comfortable that we don't do our part. Yes, God is faithful, but He also gave us gifts and talents to USE!

According to a Jewish proverb, "your day begins the night before."
