Proverbs 5: adulterous singles

"For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword." Proverbs 5:3-4

Overall, Proverbs 5 is a warning against adultery and temptation. How does it apply to a single person? (A single person is unmarried) Isaiah 54:5 says that we should be married to Christ first. Whatever tempts us and take us away from spending time with Christ can be compared to the "adulterous woman;" in the beginning everything looks appealing but ends up being the complete opposite. Just like an earthly relationship, one with Christ requires quality time and commitment. What's the status of your "marriage"?

"Milk" of Life

"As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby." 1 Peter 2:2

Apostle Peter used the example of newborns, because everyone has been around a new baby at least once. We see that babies don't care the circumstances or who's around; they want to eat when they're hungry. How much deeper would our relationship with Christ be if every time we felt "hungry" (lonely, stressed, overwhelmed, gracious, glad, confused...), we actually cried out to our Heavenly Father and received the milk/ Bread of Life? Wouldn't it be amazing to be so full of the Word that we continually grow into the people that God called us to be? Just food for thought :)

Our Light

"In my inner being I delight in God's law" Romans 7:22

So often people say "let your light shine" and the like. But what does that mean? As we draw closer to Christ and learn more about Him, we begin to change. We develop/ hone in on the fruits of the spirit. We're kinder, more patient, more giving... We begin to feel joy in doing the works of The Lord. But that only comes through a relationship and can't be perpetrated. Let's put the same effort in spiritual body that we do our external body.

"To be spiritually minded is life and peace." Romans 8:6
